Stand up inflatable paddle board usage recommendations
Some advices to correctly use the inflatable stand up paddle board. Don’t store your inflatable SUP in direct sunlight. Just like keeping your board dry, direct sunlight won’t instantly damage your board, but repeatedly storing your equipment in direct sunlight will result in deterioration in the long run and shorten the life of your board. UV radiation is harsh and particularly damaging to PVC when exposed repeatedly day after day. If your board is left in the sun, make sure it’s at times when it’s in use or drying off after a fun day on the water.
If you’re new to the sport and learning, or just want to have fun riding waves, stability is always going to be the biggest factor. A nice stable inflatable SUP will make all the little things much easier. If you are more advanced and wanting to progress, there are board designs that can work as a one board quiver, but most guys that are really into it will need one to three different boards to span a full range of conditions and styles of SUP. Forget that 8’ board that looks wicked in the surf shop. If you are a first time buyer and weigh more than 100 lbs, that is way too small of a board for you. Remember this rule: The smaller the board, the less stable it is. You first board should be a good all-round board. You will have it for years, and it will be great for friends and family to use when you move onto other boards.
Cardio workout: When you begin paddle boarding, you probably won’t get much of a cardio workout, but as you increase in strength and start to paddle harder, you will soon give yourself a good aerobic workout. It’s important to give the body this type of workout as it helps increase your heart rate and improves oxygen flow around the body. As you breathe deeper, you take in more oxygen to your lungs and your cardiovascular systems gets stronger too. Simple paddling will give you a cardio workout, but paddling harder will give you a better one. Surfing and racing are two SUP activities will which really get the heart working. If you don’t want to do these, just paddle faster or have a short race with one of your friends.
Inflatable stand up paddle boards are way more fun than other types of water sports as they offer a personalised yet thrilling experience of paddling to adventure lovers. It allows you to have fun on the water and get a full-body workout because moving your SUP paddle board with the paddle requires your whole body to exercise. Moreover, it allows you to operate the inflatable paddle board while standing, which provides you with a different type of walking on the water kind of experience. You can see and take all those shots of the sun which are impossible to capture from the shore.
An extra inflatable stand up paddle board trick: Make sure your paddle is the right way: We’ve all done it because it seems right at the time. You want the paddle to scoop the water as you try to balance and paddle without falling in. However, as we all eventually find out, the paddle goes the other way as it works more effectively when in the standing position and also results in a smoother paddle stroke and less stress on your shoulders and elbows. As the shaft is the leading edge you pull the blade through the water in a slightly trailing position which aids blade stability and as you perform the SUP stroke, the blade is vertical providing the best angle through the middle of the stroke for the most power.
